As you venture out into the world in a new way now, know that your bonds to those you lost can continue. No need to forget. No need for closure. Honor what you had and move forward. Tell your story to the next generation, but include your strengths as well as your sorrows, your resilience as well as your despair. Keep going. The slow climb back to some semblance of normalcy will not be easy, but you can do it with the support of others and a boost in your tolerance for ambiguity. To ease your anxiety, embrace the paradox of absence and presence and use both/and thinking.”
The Myth of Closure: Ambiguous Loss in a Time of Pandemic & Change by Pauline Boss
Dear friends ~
Just back from Vancouver, a dinner with SF’s own Michelin-starred State Bird Provisions‘ chefs, Stuart Brioza and Gaby Maeda, and B.C. Canada winemakers, and to research the latest around Vancouver. I’m now heading north to Lake County and Napa to enjoy 4th of July with family and do a little Napa article research/catch-up. Happy 4th to those in the States & July cheers to the rest of my friends around the globe!
In addition to my regular articles at The Bold Italic, my weekly dining column reviews one restaurant each week. I welcome those interested to follow me, or even sign up for a membership for my articles at Medium, which partially goes to support us as writers. Follow or support here. I thank you.
Per usual, Im posting my daily research in dining and drink at @ThePerfectSpot on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram.
