These 10 new(ish) restaurants — plus two bonus takeout/delivery spots — offer affordable, sometimes fun and delicious casual eats. These 12 cover the gamut: burger bar, Korean-Japanese katsu and udon, Mexican and New Mexican, hoagies, vegan Filipino, Chinese, Middle-Eastern, Indian and Tunisian-influenced wraps.
Coffee shop tip: my favorite new neighborhood cafe is Yardsale Equipment Company in Cole Valley, a hip outdoor equipment and apparel brand that opened one bomb (as in cool) cafe, serving Saltwater Bakeshop pastries and espresso drinks using Linea Caffe and drip coffee with beans from neighboring garage roastery Bird & Bear. I’m hooked on their fresh banana cold foam you can add atop any coffee (you’re welcome).
