“i thank You God for most this amazing
day: for the leaping greenly spirits of trees
and a blue true dream of sky; and for everything
which is natural which is infinite which is yes.” – e.e. cummings

Nighttime in London (see "Wandering Traveler")

Summer is speeding by… upon returning from the UK, I’ve been writing up a storm. My article on corn whiskey is in the current July issue of 7×7 Magazine (page 50). In our special travel issue of the Guardian (out this week) is my London cocktail article (pages 12-13). I just wrapped on Guardian’s annual Best of the Bay issue which will be out June 27. I’m ready for a drink!

In Top Tastes, I consider a few new Korean spots in town, revisit rabbit pot pie, eat a multi-course honey meal from bees who live atop the Fairmont Hotel, and go Basque in North Beach.

Imbiber highlights a Texas scrub oak-smoked corn whiskey, a fine new Scotch, a locally-made rye with barbershop connections, a floral Holland gin, and three recently-imported German liqueurs.

I’ve got a ton of good eats to share with you in London (Wandering Traveler), from best markets, coffee and chocolate, to stand-out restaurants and breakfast joints.

Going Cuban in Oakland's delightful new Cana (see "Around the Bay")

Cuban delights hit Oakland (with a rum bar forthcoming) in Around the Bay. Read with me in Bibliophile about: the phenomenon that is Mission Street Food, the close ties of America’s foundation with bars, and the country’s food truck rise.

I’d love your feedback on any spots visited from my site. As your personal concierge who tells it to you like a good friend would, I also create personalized itineraries: trips, meals, explorations (under “Services“).

Let me guide you to the perfect spot,

Virginia
